💭 what goals do you have for the future of the tech industry?⁣ ⁣ 👩‍💻 around the time i was born, American computer scientist Dr. Anita Borg spoke at a conference of her goal to have 50% representation for women in computing by the year 2020.⁣ ⁣ 🤝 today, many organizations are committed to achieving this by 2525, and i would love to see that happen! ⁣ ⁣ 📝 what needs to occur to make sure we’re on track, and what other goals do you have? ⁣ ⁣ 🧁 fun fact: Dr. Borg and i share a birthday — it’s this friday!

FAQ Q.11 // What do you do at Microsoft? 👩‍💻 . As you probably know, I am a software engineer at Microsoft on the Cortana for Windows team! I have collectively worked for the company for over 2.5 years. During that time I have worked on #Paint3D 🎨 (1 year internship), #Xbox 🎮 (3 month internship), and #Cortana on #Windows 💻 (1.5 years FTE). . My team and I are responsible for core client-side features and the main look and feel of Cortana on Windows. ✨ Because of this, I collaborate closely with designers to create experiences that users love, look and feel beautiful, and will make users more productive. . I'm very thankful to be able to also work on #Women#InTech initiatives like organizing the #DigiGirlz tech fair, building the women in tech community at @microsoftuk in my role on the Technical Women @ Microsoft Board, and connecting & support other female microsofties who reach out to me. 👯‍♀️ . My days are busy, but I have a blast every day. I am challenged, I learn constantly, I grow, and have fun doing it with amazing people. . . . #herhelloworld #womenintech #girlswhocode #girlpower #womeninstem #girlboss #builtbygirls #dev_girls #engineergirls #womenempowerment #ilooklikeanengineer #stemsquad #microsoft #stemforfem #femalehustlers #womenwhoengineer #stemher #earlyincareer #microsoftlife

🇺🇸I am living in the USA until May, doing research at @johnshopkinsu ! 🤩⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ It's a dream come true for me to do a semester abroad. I always wanted to live that experience but didn't do it during my undergrad. I'm so happy I get this opportunity in Baltimore, Maryland! 🤗⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ I'll be doing research on voice activity detection in the Speech lab at JHU! ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ I've been in the city for a couple of days now, and I've been sharing my daily life in my stories. So if you're curious to know what life in the US is for a foreigner, go watch my stories daily! 😊⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ ▶️ JHU offers a free shuttle bus that acts like an Uber from 5:30 pm to 4 am. So it picks you up at your current location and drops you at the exact place you want to go to. I think this service is also offered in other colleges, am I right? 😊⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Have a great week! ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ #GoHop #johnshopkins #johnshopkinsuniversity #baltimoreravens #baltimorephotographer #baltimorecity #baltimorephotography #baltimoremd #baltimoreblogger #baltimoremaryland #college_diaries #colleges #collegestudent #collegeblogger #womenintech #techie #womeninstem #womenintechnology #girlwhocode #techielife #womeninscience #womeninbiz #womensupportingwomen #codingisfun #softwaredeveloper

Resources ?‍?

Feminine Computer Science Poster – created and shared by JoCee

I have a difficult time finding feminine technology accessories. There will be 20,000 black, green, and blue laptop covers and only 5 pink or purple ones. I think the key to more women entering CS-related fields is to provide resources that they are drawn to, and marketed (even for free) towards them. So I created a digital decoration that is clearly feminine, and also clearly computer science-related (:

Computer Specs x Computer Scientists by TheHippieHacker – created and shared by Madi

The video is an intro to computer specs for helping those in the market of a new laptop. It has metrics and more relatable explanations of computer specs.

The Future of Online Shopping created and shared by me 🙂

What’s the future of online shopping technology? Let me show you how one Swedish fintech startup is reinventing that user experience!
